Ng Chee Khern - Permanent Secretary (Manpower), MOM

I started my career as a fighter pilot and retired from the Airforce after 26 years as the Chief of Airforce. Transited to the public service and was Director of SID for 4 years and thereafter held Permanent Secretary positions in MINDEF, MOH, PMO (Smart National and Digital Govt Group) and Manpower; so I have arguably worked in the security, social, central (and if one considers digital infrastructure as Infrastructure, then even the infrastructure sector), and economic clusters.

I read widely in the fields of contemporary affairs, history, military history and affairs, and literature. Passionate supporter of Liverpool.

I’ve had varied experiences of being a leader, manager and a commander, all of which require different approaches. Looking back, I can see that I have always taken an interest in helping young officers progress in their development; would be happy to do more of this.
