Kuan Ming Leong - Director, Economics Department, MOM

A development economist by training, I am passionate about issues relating to the economic and social development of Singapore. Over the years, I have had postings to MTI (three stints), MND and MOM. In my current role, I oversee MOM’s Economics Department, which undertakes research and analyses that support evidence-based policy formulation in the Ministry and its statutory boards.

As a contemplative and analytical person, I enjoy working on problem-solving challenges and finding thoughtful ways to create positive change. Outside of work, I am an avid reader and firmly believe in the importance of expanding our knowledge frontiers and filling knowledge gaps – this is a process I feel never truly ends.

In my life, I have been blessed with a journey that includes challenges, which have helped me to grow. I am happy to share experiences with younger officers and chat about any areas of interest.
